Surgery
Surgery often brings anxious moments on the part of both clients and patients. We recognize these real concerns and we work very hard to see that all procedures go as smoothly as possible for both patient and client. Medicine always weighs the risk of the existing condition versus the risk of treatment. Surgery is no different. The Doctor and the technicians will assess each patient and consult with the owners as needed regarding past history, examinations and laboratory testing. Pre-surgical preparation is very important and is tailored for each patient.
Common surgical procedures done at Animal Care include
- Spay and Neuter Services
- A Wide Range of Elective and Soft tissue Surgery such as
- Wound Repair
- Tumor Excision
- Eye Lid Surgery
- Cystotomy
- Exploratory Laparotomy
- Splenectomy
- Ear Surgery
- In-House Orthopedic Surgery
- ACL Repair
- OCD
- Hip Luxations
Anesthetic protocols will be tailored for each patient to ensure both the safety and comfort of that patient and support protocols such as fluids, antibiotic or pain management will also be tailored for each individual.
Post surgical support is just as important and as part of the patient care team the owner will be educated as to the necessary outpatient care.
Surgical Specialists
Some surgical procedures are best left to specialists and Dr. Carlson will refer cases to other facilities as needed and appropriate after consulting with the pet owner.
